Would you like to adjust your size? We can advise you on shape, projection, and volume—always tailored to your body proportions.

Implant replacement using the "en bloc" technique

Implant replacement using the “PEP-CAP®” technique

For medical issues such as capsular fibrosis or silicone leakage, we offer safe and muscle-sparing removal of the implant and capsule in a single procedure.

Implant-free reconstruction using the patient's own fat

If you decide against new implants, the volume can be restored using your own body fat—without any foreign materials.

Modern breast implants are durable—but they don't last forever

If high-quality implants are used following a breast augmentation procedure without complications, they can theoretically remain in the body for decades. Routine replacement at fixed intervals—as was often assumed in the past—is not strictly necessary with today’s CE- and FDA-approved implants. They do not have an “expiration date.” The average lifespan of even the highest-quality implants is approximately 15 years.

For these reasons, an implant replacement may become advisable or necessary—depending on material quality, the age of the implants, and individual changes in the body:

Capsular fibrosis: If the implant becomes severely hardened or deformed, replacement may be necessary—sometimes in combination with removal of the capsule (“en bloc” or “PEP-CAP®”).

Changes due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss: If breast tissue changes or sags, a combination of implant replacement and a breast lift can help.

Displacement or visible rippling: This is particularly common with very thin tissue or older implants.

Desire to change implant size: Some women consciously decide years later to switch to a larger or smaller implant.

Safety concerns regarding older or substandard implants: Anyone who underwent surgery many years ago or has implants from a manufacturer that has since become the subject of controversy (e.g., PIP) should have the condition of their implants checked regularly.

Our conclusion: If an implant needs to be replaced, this can be handled very effectively using innovative surgical techniques and customized solutions.

Methods and Procedure for Implant Replacement

1. Removal of the old implant

This is the most important part of the procedure. Depending on the situation, specialized explantation techniques are used to ensure that the implant can be gently and safely removed from the tissue.

2. Insertion and positioning of the new implant

Here, we use the latest surgical techniques and FDA-approved implants from Polytech, BLite, and Motiva, which are known for their durability in breast reconstruction. The specific implant shapes, materials, and sizes that are appropriate for each individual case depend on the patient’s anatomy and the desired outcome.

3. Optional: Tissue tightening or autologous fat grafting

Combined with aesthetic optimization for a youthful, firm breast shape.

Breast Augmentation for the Second Time – Are There Alternatives to Implants?

Would you like to have your breast implants removed but still want to maintain your breast volume? Then breast reconstruction using your own fat may be the solution:

  • Natural look and feel
  • Fewer complications, no foreign bodies
  • Body contouring through liposuction

This method is particularly suitable if you are looking for moderate augmentation without implants.
